A Dudley woman awaiting trial on armed robbery and first-degree kidnapping charges is back in jail after being charged with armed robbery again.

Regina Speight, 37, of 122 Heather-Ann Lane, is back in the Wayne County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond, charged with the armed robbery of a Dollar General Store on Friday night.

Mrs. Speight was apprehended after an "intense search of the surrounding area" immediately after the robbery was reported at 2469 U.S. 117 South, according to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

"She showed what appeared to be a handgun (during the robbery) but no handgun was recovered," Maj. Tom Effler said.

Money and property from the store were recovered, and Mrs. Speight was taken into custody.

Mrs. Speight was arrested after a similar incident May 10, when she allegedly held up the clerk at the Down East Travel Center, her former place of employment, also on U.S. 117 South.

At that time, she was charged with armed robbery and first-degree kidnapping and placed under a $400,000 secured bond.

After initially being denied a bail reduction, Wayne County District Court Judge Les Turner reduced her bond to $100,000 effective June 3.

She was able to make bail July 11, an official with the Wayne County Clerk of Courts said.

Mrs. Speight was scheduled to be back in district court this morning for a first appearance on the new charges.
