Woman charged in fatal accident

The wife of a man killed in an accident on U.S. 117 Alternate over the weekend has been charged by the state Highway Patrol with failure to see before turning.
Dorothy Eley, 74, E. Nelson St., was driving Friday when she allegedly caused an accident on U.S. 117 near its intersection with Outlaw Road. She stopped at the intersection before making the turn onto the highway, according to investigators, but did not see the oncoming vehicle that struck her car.
Her husband, Paul Henry Eley, 81, died after they were both taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the second vehicle involved in the accident, the pickup truck Ms. Eley failed to see, has since been identified.
Jeremiah Wright, 17, of 147 Swinson Drive, also was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
