One man is in custody and another is being sought by Goldsboro police after a Saturday evening burglary on North Taylor Street resulted in an assault early Sunday morning.

Police have charged 41-year-old Shelton June Ellis with second-degree burglary, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond, according to a press release.

A second man, James Earl Sims, 51, of 1701 A. North Taylor St. is wanted on second-degree burglary and larceny charges.

The burglary at 701 B. N. Taylor St. was reported at 1 p.m. to the Goldsboro Police Department by Tavarus Donelle Ingram.

Ingram arrived at his residence and noticed an air conditioning unit missing from a window. Inside he found a 32-inch flat-screen TV had been taken, along with two wall paintings, a DVD player, projector and 250 DVDs. Also taken were 470 comic books and $200 in cash.

Police left after the report was filed, but were called back to the area at 1:15 a.m. Sunday to a fight in progress.

Ingram and a friend allegedly confronted Ellis, whom they suspected of the break-in, and assaulted him.

Ingram and his friend, Michael Worrell, of 210 H. Alpha Arms, were both cited for assault.

Ellis was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment and then placed in the Wayne County Jail.
