57-year-old charged with stealing parts from two cars on William Street

A 57-year-old Goldsboro man has been charged with a pair of North William Street break-ins, first reported on July 22.

Michael William Caudell, in the Wayne County Jail under a $22,500 secured bond, is charged with two felony counts each of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and obtaining property by false pretense.

He also is charged with one felony count each of larceny of motor vehicle parts and possession of stolen property, as well as two misdemeanor counts each of possession of stolen property and larceny, and one misdemeanor count each of first-degree trespass and injury to real property.

Caudell allegedly broke into a vehicle outside the Safeway convenience store at 1901 N. William St., then cut the fence and entered the property of Brian's Transmission at 1907 N. William St.

Once on the grounds of the auto shop's storage area, Caudell allegedly broke into a vehicle owned by Allen Grading Company and stole $600 worth of tools.

He was arrested by deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office after they responded to a report of a domestic dispute his home.

Caudell is scheduled for a first appearance in Wayne County Court Monday.

Investigators recovered approximately $300 worth of stolen property.
