Seven Springs High School may not be standing anymore, but those who once learned in its halls are looking to remember their high school days with a school reunion from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Maynard's Nightclub. The event will feature food and music, and all past Seven Springs High School students are invited.
Organized by Iris Kilpatrick, this is the second time that she decided to bring together past classmates. Four years ago, the first reunion was a great success, she said, and she immediately had people asking to hold another reunion.
"The minute it was over the last time, people started writing me notes and calling me and asking when I would do it again. We are doing it again because of the overwhelming response," she said.
The first celebration drew about 350 people from as far back as the class of 1931.
The old Seven Springs High School was closed down in 1963 as part of consolidation efforts with Southern Wayne High School. The old building was torn down.
The old elementary school and gym, however, were acquired by Maynard Price who turned the building into a nightclub.
"We're excited about everyone getting together again," Mrs. Kilpatrick said. "I hope that everyone who ever attended will find the information. We're trying to contact someone from each class to contact their classmates for the regular class reunion. We don't want anyone to miss it."
