SEVEN SPRINGS -- The Old Timey Days festival held in Seven Springs is still a week away, but organizers are already starting to plan for next year's festival.

Scheduled for May 18, this year's Old Timey Days is expected to draw 3,000 to 4,000 people for a day of fun, food and music.

Miss Goldsboro Beth Stovall, Miss North Carolina Arlie Honeycutt, the Seven Springs Fire Princess and the Carolina Hurricane's Storm Squad are planning appearances, while clogger Mckenzie Henson, 8, from Mount Olive and Gaylon Pope & SweetWater band, a self-described garage band, and some Latin dancers will provide the afternoon's entertainment.

The performances will be held throughout the day, starting at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m.

The Seven Springs First Baptist Church will also provide a Zumba demonstration.

In the Kid's Corner, there will be face painting, balloons, pedal tractor races and a barrel ride, comparable to a mini-train.

At 10 a.m., there will be a horseshoe tournament.

The Old Timey Days pageant for all ages ($100 entry fee) will start at 11 a.m. at town hall. Participants will compete in both evening and casual wear.

Later in the evening from 7 to 11 p.m., the festival will feature Solid Ground, a rock band, and Close Range, a variety band, as the night's free live entertainment.

Most festival activities will be held on Main Street and there will be designated areas for parking. About 3,000 people attended last year's festival.

More than 50 food, craft and information vendors are expected to be on hand. For information, call the Seven Springs Town Hall at 1-252-569-5241.
