The victim of Friday morning's fatal accident on U.S. 13 North, just north of George's Grill near Hood Swamp Road has been identified as Paula Divers, 39, of Greenville.
Divers appeared to have been traveling south in a four-door Lexus car when she hydroplaned into the path of an 18-wheeler.
The N.C. Highway Patrol official on duty Saturday afternoon did not have the name of the truck driver, who also received injuries. Further details about the wreck also were unavailable.
In another accident near 2463 Old Smithfield Road on Friday morning, Jennifer Weaver, 19, hit a tree and flipped her car, a Mazda CX-7, while driving south. Trooper B.B. Grady of the N.C. Highway Patrol said weather conditions could have been a factor.
Weaver and her two children were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Grady said that Weaver had mentioned complaints of her back.
