The state today was to permanently close access to Promise Land Road north of U.S. 70 in Lenoir County, west of LaGrange, as part of the construction of the U.S. 70 Goldsboro Bypass.
Once access is closed, traffic on U.S. 70 will not be able to travel north on Promise Land Road. However, eastbound U.S. 70 traffic will still be able to turn right and westbound U.S. 70 traffic will still be able to turn left to travel south on Promise Land Road.
Motorists on Promise Land Road traveling south toward U.S. 70 will have to turn around approximately 1,000 feet north of U.S. 70. An area has been constructed on Promise Land Road near the north end of the closure for southbound traffic to turn around.
