Seymour Johnson Air Force Base officials have identified the member of the 916th Air Refueling Wing who was found dead in a Pikeville park early Tuesday evening.

Senior Airman Colin Marshall, 24, had been stationed at the Goldsboro installation for four years and was a refuel and bomber aircraft journeyman assigned to the 911th Air Refueling Squadron.

916th Commander Col. Greg Gilmour reiterated what his Public Affairs chief said Wednesday -- that the wing was shocked and saddened by the loss of one of its own.

"Our entire wing is grieving his loss today," he said. "We are doing everything we can for the family and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this tough time."

Sources said Tuesday that Marshall was the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Base officials, though, would only say he was found in his car and that no foul play is suspected.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is working the case.
