Investigators with the Goldsboro Police Department recovered two bicycles, stolen March 12 from a residence on Peachtree Street, at a local pawn shop and they say they have the man responsible for the theft in custody.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Jacob David Smith, of 701 E. Walnut St., at the Ormond Avenue Probation Office Monday. He has been charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretenses, and was jailed under a $30,000 secured bond.
The bicycles, one of which is a Dutch brand bike valued at $2,200, were reported stolen from 2405 Peachtree St. The homeowner, Tara Piech, told police that the bikes were taken from a storage room outside the home, but no forced entry was found.
Investigators said they were able to trace the bikes, once they were located at the pawn shop, back to Smith as the person who sold them.
