City Council will meet on rezoning

The Goldsboro City Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, following a briefing session at 5:30 p.m.

The council will hold four public hearings, including one on a rezoning request by Jesse Artis Jr. for a conditional use permit for the east side of South Berkeley Boulevard between East Ash Street and Elm Street and another for a conditional use permit for Little River Associates for the south side of U.S. 70 West between U.S. 117 and the Little River.

The other two hearings involve the Goldsboro Urbanized Area Comprehensive Plan and amendments to Chapter 130 and Chapter 153 of the city's Code of Ordinances.

The council also will hear presentations by Eric Vaughn on the Geeker Report and by pastor Will Best on the Salvation Deliverance Healing Ministries Education Center.

During the briefing session, council members will discuss a health insurance update, utility meter reading, property owned by the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp. at 407 S. William St., will hear a GPAC update from the Goldsboro Police Department and will review a Community Transformation Funds Application by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Consent agenda items include a speed limit ordinance, a bid for lead-based paint abatement and housing rehabilitation through a Community Development Block Grant, adoption of a resolution to condemn parcels of land, awarding a contract for the Stoney Creek Park shelter and restroom construction and departmental reports.
