Smart Choices for Youth holds YouthBuild graduation ceremony

Smart Choices for Youth held its YouthBuild graduation recently, with Congressman G.K. Butterfield as the guest speaker.
A number of young people earned accolades at the event. Many helped build seven homes over a period of 18 months with Habitat for Humanity, as well as improving their academic standings at school.
"It has been a wonderful experience to see them take on responsibilities while helping rebuild their county," said Daryl Woodard, the founder and executive director of the program. The event was held at Wayne Community College.
Among the youth honored were Hakeem Nobles, who earned his high school diploma, and Aaron Everett, Lawrence Everett, Jasmine Melvin, Tony Rowe Jr., Tyre Simmons, Tevin Ward and Tyrique Wright, who earned their general education diplomas.
Receiving their Certificates of Completion were: Tonniqua Baker, Louise Boney, Gregory Braswell, Brianna Cook, Jasmine Cooper, Desiree Davis, Natalie Hampton, Ricky Hardy Jr., Whitney Harrington, Allerich Ingram, James Joyner, Myelle Langston, Trisco Lindsey, Linda Lunsford, Jasmine Melvin, Hakeem Nobles, Marquel Parker, Emmanuel Perrin, Tony Rowe Jr., Tyree Simmons, Emmanuel Swift, Mareece Taylor, Vicki Troublefield, Tevin Ward, Kendra Watkins and Tyrique Wright.
Receiving their Habitat Builders Institute Certification were: Charlie Atkinson, Mary Atkinson, Greg Braswell, Patrick Horne, Myelle Langston, Jasmine Melvin, Marquel Parker, Emmanuel Perrin, Michael Pittman, Demetrius Raiford, Daquan Reese, Tony Rowe Jr., Tyree Simmons, Allen Surrette, Mareeece Taylor, Tevin Ward, Kendra Watkins and Devon Williams.
Receiving their Literacy and Numeracy Gains Awards were: Charlie Atkinson, Tonniqua Baker, Gregory Braswell, Jasmine Cooper, Ricky Hardy Jr., Whitney Harrington, James Joyner, Myelle Langston, Linda Lunsford, Ashanti McFarland, Jasmine Melvin, Marquel Parker, Emmanuel Perrin, Demetrius Raiford, Daquan Reese, Allen Surrette, Emmanuel Swift, Mareece Taylor, Vickie Troublefield, Tevin Ward, Kendra Watkins and Tyrique Wright.
