A suspect in the Jan. 29 break-in at the EZ-Bait and Tackle was arrested Friday, facing charges in Wayne and Cumberland counties.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has in custody 30-year-old Jodie Lee Steele Jr., who is charged with breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, larceny and habitual felon, all felonies. He is being held under a $25,000 secured bond.
Steele was arrested in connection with a string of robberies, including the EZ Bait theft at 2049 U.S. 117 S, where a window was smashed and more than $6,000 in cigarettes were stolen.
Witnesses were able to give a vehicle description to investigators, but the Sheriff's Office did not say whether that or any other tips led to the arrest. They did say, however, that additional charges against Steele originating from other counties are likely, as well as are charges against other subjects.
Det. Sgt. Robert Chunn and members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office were credited with the arrest.
