The Duplin County Agribusiness Council will hold its annual dinner meeting on Monday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Ed Emory Auditorium of the Lois G. Britt Agricultural Center.
The center is located at Duplin Commons, across from James Sprunt Community College.
This year's speaker will be Dr. Sandy Maddox. Dr. Maddox has 35 years of experience in agriculture in North Carolina. She currently serves as the director of the Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center at Mount Olive College.
In partnership with Cooperative Extension and funding partners, Dr. Maddox has worked with 20 counties to create farmland protection plans, has developed a cost of community services study for Wayne County, conducted a statewide conference for grass-fed beef producers, held regional forestry workshops and is currently working with USDA to conduct regional events addressing farm transition issues and estate planning.
The Duplin County Agribusiness Council is a concerned group of Duplin County residents working together to increase awareness of the county's agribusiness industry and its vital importance to the overall economic well-being of the county and the state.
Dinner tickets for non-members are $15 for adults and $5 for children age 12 or younger. Adult dinner tickets purchased before Jan. 21 will be discounted to $12. For more information, contact the Duplin County Cooperative Extension Service office at 910-296-2143.
