Driver dies after collision on U.S. 13

Goldsboro resident James Wells, 65, of 238 Ryan Way, was killed Sunday night when the pickup truck he was driving was involved in an accident at the intersection of Saulston Road and U.S. 13 North.
The accident happened about 10:30 p.m.
Wells was traveling east on the road when he failed to stop at the intersection, said First Sgt. Jerry Burton of the state Highway Patrol.
The driver of the other vehicle, Anthony Willis, 22, of Snow Hill was not charged. He also was not injured.
Wells died at the scene.
Burton said that alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash and that Wells was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
