A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at Wayne Memorial Hospital Thursday morning due to complications from a gunshot wound Goldsboro police believe he sustained at his residence.
Anthony Holloman of 709-B N. George St. was transported to Wayne Memorial about 5:30 a.m. by Montrello Reid, 36. Police were notified of the shooting when the victim arrived at the emergency room at 6:30 a.m.
Investigators were led back to the crime scene, which was determined to be Holloman's residence. They are now in the process of conducting interviews, collecting evidence and following up on leads.
"They're running down some promising leads," Maj. Al King said this morning. "We hope these interviews can go well and we can bring this thing to a conclusion shortly."
King said the victim was known to law enforcement. Public records show an Anthony Holloman was arrested three times in the mid-2000s with various drug-related charges, including intent to sell or distribute cocaine.
Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or Goldsboro Police at 919-580-4216.
