Cruiser hit on U.S. 70 during traffic stop

Two people, including a Wayne County Highway Patrol trooper, were injured shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 70 just west of Goldsboro.
According to reports, Trooper C.A. Cook had stopped a car for speeding. A second car, operated by Amber Cook, who is not related to the trooper, struck the patrol car from behind pushing it into the car that Trooper Cook had stopped for speeding.
According to reports, Trooper Cook was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Cook, who is facing charges, was listed in stable condition this morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
