The ecumenical clergy group CLIFF (Clergy Living In Faith & Fellowship) invites residents of Wayne County to the group's Advent worship services and luncheons on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.
Worship services will be held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., each Wednesday at noon. After the 35-minute service, the congregation is then invited to share in a free luncheon in the church fellowship hall. An offering is received each Wednesday, with all proceeds given to the Salvation Army Children's Assistance Fund.
On Dec. 12, Father Pat Keane of St. Mary Roman Catholic Parish will present the homily "Jesus -- the Holy Present" based upon Luke 2:1-20. Bishop Anthony Slater, president of CLIFF, will serve as worship assistant. St. Mary's parish will prepare the fellowship meal.
On Dec. 19, Dr. D.B. Cannon of St. James AME Zion Church will deliver the homily "Jesus -- the Heavenly Future" with 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 as the text. St. James Church will prepare the fellowship meal.
