Working in pairs, four men carried out an armed robbery at Aggies Steak and Subs, located at 212 W. Ash St., just after 9 p.m. Friday.

Gilbert Ramirez, a 20-year-old Aggies employee, was taking out the trash and was grabbed by the first pair of assailants, described only as black males.

One of the men pointed a gun at Ramirez's head and led him behind the dumpster.

Investigators with the Goldsboro Police Department believe the robbers were lying in wait.

"It does appear that they were waiting for someone to take out the trash and to make their way in then," Sgt. Dwayne Dean said.

Once Ramirez was subdued, the second pair of robbers moved from behind a fence and into the establishment.

There they found Phouthorn Souvankham, 36, working inside.

According to the police report, one of the men pointed a gun at her and demanded the money.

Ms. Souvankham told police that the men instructed her not to scream, telling her "don't talk or I'll kill you, give me the money."

She made her way to the register and told the third victim, Bounkho Panyavong, 44, to give the men the money.

She did, telling the thieves when they demanded more that that was all there was and to take anything they wanted.

The workers were then told to "sit on the ground," and the masked men filed out.

All four men were described as black males wearing all black clothing and at least two of them were armed.

Police responded and processed the scene, but no suspects have been identified so far.

The suspects got away with $1,600.
