The U.S. Tennis Association has announced that the N.C. Singles League Championships will be held in Goldsboro in 2013 and 2014, news Goldsboro Travel and Tourism is celebrating along with the announcement that Busco Beach was selected as the All-Terrain Vehicle Association's dirt track of the year for the second year in a row.
Both announcements have come in the past month and in the wake of an enhanced effort by Tourism Director Betsy Rosemann to attract sporting events to the area over recent years.
The tennis tournaments will be held Oct. 10 to 13, 2013 and Oct. 9 to 12, 2014.
About 600 participants will be utilizing more than 48 tennis courts throughout the area during the three days of competition and the economic impact to the area is estimated to range from $500,000 to $900,000.
Located south of Goldsboro, Busco Beach hosted two national ATVA championship events over Labor Day weekend and was voted track of the year in November by racers, promoters and members of the Extreme Dirt Track racing community. Racers reportedly came from as far away as California for the events.
The track won the award previously in 2011.
