A Goldsboro man, fleeing from Duplin County sheriff's deputies Monday, crossed into Sampson County and wound up hitting a state Highway Patrol cruiser before crashing into a light pole.
State troopers arrested Tari Antwan Raspberry of 806 N. Taylor St., and turned him over to the Duplin County Sheriff's Office following the collision on Pugh Road near Clinton.
The trooper whose car Raspberry hit with his Chevy Tahoe was unharmed, but Raspberry was taken to Sampson County Regional Hospital for examination. He was treated and released and placed in the Duplin County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
Raspberry faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, speeding, reckless driving with wanton disregard, fleeing to elude arrest and injury to personal property.
