Driver killed in I-795 crash ID'd

A man killed in a traffic accident on I-795 North on Monday morning has been identified as 19-year-old Hunter Michael McManus of Wilson.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Creech said that McManus, traveling south, crossed over the median and struck a cable, ending up in the northbound lane.
McManus' Oldsmobile was struck by Derek Lee Atkinson, 48, of 545 Sheridan Forest Road, at a high rate of speed.
Atkinson was transported to Vidant Medical Center with a leg injury and cuts and bruises. No charges will be filed, Creech said.
The accident is still under investigation.
