Ghosts, goblins set for holiday trek for treats

MaryScott Best, 8, cuts eye holes in her pumpkin at the Arts Council of Wayne County Tuesday. In celebration of Halloween, children customized their own jack-o'-lanterns, with faces ranging from scary to silly and embellished with features like gummy worms and eyeballs.

Trick-or-treaters will hit the streets this evening as Halloween comes to Wayne County.

The official time for costumed youngsters to knock on doors -- and hopefully fill their bags with candy and other goodies -- is from 6 until 8 p.m. in the city of Goldsboro, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and across Wayne County.

Although the rain associated with Hurricane Sandy has abated, those who venture outdoors can expect cool temperatures, with highs expected to reach only the upper 50s today and lows to drop into the upper 30s tonight.
