MOUNT OLIVE -- Authorities have charged Joseph Irvin Powell Sr., 68, and Dean Tyler Powell, 28, both of 1165 W. Main St., in a second round of arrests made by the Goldsboro and Wayne County Interagency Narcotics Task Force this week.

The charges came after a newly secured search warrant was executed at an alleged meth lab that was first discovered in Mount Olive on Oct. 16.

A week ago Joseph Irvin Powell Jr. was arrested and charged with manufacturing, distributing and maintaining a dwelling for the purposes of making and selling methamphetamines and other related charges. He now faces additional charges that include possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The two other Powells arrested, Dean and Joseph Sr., were placed in the Wayne County Jail under $15,000 and $20,000 secured bonds, respectively. Joseph Powell Sr. faces charges for maintaining a dwelling and for the distribution of meth. The youngest Powell, Dean, was charged with four counts of failure to appear.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, the investigation into the meth manufacturing operation is continuing and future arrests are expected.
