WCC to offer manufacturing course

The Wayne Business and Industry Center will offer a two-part, 10-day course that will provide the skills necessary to work in manufacturing.
"Introduction to Manufacturing" will be taught 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 on Friday, Oct. 1-12. The course will provide participants a general understanding of manufacturing job requirements and opportunities in Wayne County and give them the opportunity to earn third-party credentials that will enhance employment appeal.
Classes will be held on the Wayne Community College campus at 3000 Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro.
The morning component will focus on effective time management and soft skills and lead to a soft skills certificate. Afternoon classes will cover basic math and English review, good manufacturing processes, industry-related technology, and computer skills. Students will also complete Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) assessments and may be eligible for Snap-on torque and basic hand tools certification.
Cost is $120 for each portion of the class "(Introduction to Manufacturing" and "Soft Skills for Manufacturing") plus $30 for the CRC tests. Scholarships for the full amount are available to qualified participants.
The program is made possible by a Planning and Community Development Block Grant through the City of Goldsboro.
