Copper theft thwarted
A neighbor witnessed a suspicious man tampering with a vacant residence's air conditioning unit and called police. Lashonda Middleton told police she saw a black man attempting to steal at window unit from 108 Dewey St. When police arrived, the suspect was gone, having fled with little reward for his efforts. According to the police report, the damage to the unit was a cost of $250, while the value of the copper stolen was just $1.
Breaking and entering a motor vehicle
A 2006 Kia Spectra was broken into either late Wednesday or early Thursday. A Goldsboro police report released today said that Shaquida Shanet Lane, 24, 1505 S. John St., left her vehicle unsecured and that an unknown subject entered and removed various items. The thief nabbed a $40 purse with a larger prize inside, $1,330 in cash. Also taken were a bank card and an EBT card with a combined value of $25.
