Goldsboro native to lead Raleigh Junior League

RALEIGH -- A Goldsboro native has been named president of the board of directors of The Junior League of Raleigh.
Pat Wilkins is the administrative director at MassMutual Financial Group and owner of Wilkins Etcetera Clothing. She will serve a one-year term as the board's leader.
The league is a women's leadership, training organization of more than 1,800 women focused on improving the community.
Wilkins, who has served in the league since 2001, has led some of the league's most prestigious teams and events, including the Capital Campaign in 2005 and the 2009 N.C. Inaugural Ball. She served on the board in 2006 as community vice president and in 2011 as president-elect. She was named the League's Member of the Year in 2007.
A graduate of Goldsboro High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she worked in sales and management for the Limited for 13 years.
Her community involvement includes Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs, Wake County Guardian ad Litem, Wake County Carolina Club, vice president of Brassfield Elementary PTA Ways and Means and Playspace Children's Museum. She currently serves on the executive board at SAFEchild and is an advisory board member at the Project Enlightenment Foundation.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Merritt Jr., and the daughter-in-law of Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wilkins all of Goldsboro.
She and her husband John, also a native of Goldsboro, have two children.
