Shot self in foot
A man was getting acquainted with his newly acquired weapon Tuesday when he accidentally discharged a round into his own foot. Damian Benjamin Vance, 24, 100 Angus Drive, was cleaning his 9mm Taurus, and apparently had a round chambered and the hammer cocked back. According the report Vance made with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, his thumb slipped off the hammer and he shot himself. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he was treated.
Stolen dog
A four-month-old gray and blue pitt bull was stolen Tuesday, from a home at 1633 Camp Jubilee Road. According to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report, Amayrany Palma, 21, was fielding offers from people interested in buying the puppy. The dog has a white belly and a gray vest.
Breaking and entering
Sheriff's deputies are investigating a break-in that took place between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, at 1038 Pineview Cemetery Road. Unknown suspects kicked in the front door of the home of Robert David Lampron, 31, and made off with a 50-inch LCD TV, a 52-inch plasma TV and a guitar. The value of the stolen items and the damage to the door were estimated at $3,100.
Generator thefts
The Lowe's on Berkeley Boulevard, was struck on back-to-back days in August by thieves thought by police to be carrying out a string of larcenies. According to a report filed with the Goldsboro Police Department on Wednesday, two men stole a generator from the store on Aug. 13, at about 1 p.m. They returned the next day and pulled the same thing after 5:30 p.m. The generators, worth $899 and $1,389 respectively, were loaded on a cart and pushed through the entrance door by one man, and received by another man standing by outside.
