An investigation into the Aug. 28 break-in and shooting that took place in the Lakewood Subdivision at Dudley, resulted in an arrest Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Jeffrey Leach Jr., 16, 1202 Mimosa St., has been charged with breaking and entering and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.

Leach, already being held in the Wayne County Detention Center on similar charges, is alleged to have entered the Dudley home and been confronted by the homeowner. Leach shot at the victim and then fled.

Detective Sergeant Robert J. Golimowski developed Leach as a suspect through the course of his investigation, and was able to bring the new charges against the inmate. As a result of the newly filed charges Leach has been given a $50,000 secured bond.

The Sheriff's Office is not releasing any information regarding the victim in this case, but did say that the man was unharmed in the incident.
