Good Samaritan returns lost wallet

A Goldsboro woman who reported her wallet stolen last week, called the News-Argus on Tuesday to ask for a correction in Monday's Public Record that noted the theft.

But it wasn't the usual Public Record call the newspaper staff received, complaining that the law enforcement's report contained an error.

As it turns out, the wallet wasn't stolen, after all.

An unidentified Good Samaritan spotted the wallet in the shopping cart left by Sandra Jean Grady of Country Day Road in the parking lot of Staples off North Berkeley Boulevard and took the time to not only retrieve it, but to drive to the Goldsboro police station and ensure that she got it back -- complete with all the cash and credit cards it contained.

Mrs. Grady said she simply wanted to thank the person publicly -- whoever he or she is -- and to let other people know that there are still honest people out there.
