Wayne Community College to offer tire manufacturing course

Wayne Community College Continuing Education will offer a tire manufacturing course that could lead to a job at the Bridgestone plant in Wilson.
The "Introduction to Basic Tire Manufacturing" prepares individuals for entry-level operator jobs at a tire manufacturing facility. The course will provide foundational and basic technical knowledge of tire manufacturing through an overview of the tire industry, production processes, safety standards, quality systems, measurement skills and communication skills.
Successful completion of the course is a requirement for employment at the plant.
Interested students must be 18 by the time the course ends and are required to have at least a high school or GED certificate.
Classes will be taught at WCC Mondays and Thursdays through Oct. 18, from 6-9 p.m. The class began on Monday. Registration cost is $120. The course will be repeated after the conclusion of this one.
