Wayne County to send three to North Carolina Debutante Ball

Three young women from Goldsboro will make their debut at the annual North Carolina Debutante Ball in Raleigh the weekend of Sept. 6-8.
The formal presentation of young ladies from across the state will highlight the weekend of activities hosted by the Terpsichorean Club.
Comprised of young men from the Raleigh area, the Terpsichorean Club was formed in the 1920s to sponsor an annual statewide Debutante Ball to present the state's prominent young ladies and to honor their families. The ball has been held every year since 1923 with the exception of the World War II years.
Debutantes are selected by more than 200 nominators from around the state. Final approval is made by Terpsichorean Club members.
During the ball weekend there will be eight functions in honor of the debutantes, their families and their escorts. The formal presentation will take place Friday evening, Sept. 7, at Meymandi Concert Hall.
Representing Goldsboro are Madison Parker Bryan, Lura Edgerton Hulse and Morgan Taylor Jeffreys.
Miss Bryan, 20, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Collier Bryan of Goldsboro. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bryan Jr. of Goldsboro.
She is a 2011 graduate of Wayne Country Day School and currently a sophomore at High Point University, where she is majoring in industrial psychology and minoring in business.
She is a legacy, having had an aunt and cousins who were debutantes before her.
Chief marshal will be her father, while Kent Jernigan of Goldsboro will serve as assistant chief marshal.
Miss Hulse, 20, is the daughter of Brian Geoffrey Hulse and Lee Edgerton Hulse of Goldsboro, and the granddaughter of Norman and Susan Edgerton and Mrs. Herbert B. Hulse, all of Goldsboro.
A 2011 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, she is a sophomore at Campbell University, majoring in history pre-law.
Her sister, Hallie Hulse, also was a debutante.
Miss Hulse's father will serve as chief marshal and Anthony Michael Macias will be assistant chief marshal.
Miss Jeffreys, 19, is a third-generation legacy.
Salutatorian of her 2011 graduating class at Eastern Wayne High School, she is a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill, pursuing a double major in psychology and English with a minor in chemistry.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Taylor Jeffreys of Goldsboro, her father will be her chief marshal. Assistant marshal is Blake Marchese of Goldsboro.
Grandparents are James Jeffreys and the late Lois Jeffreys of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Long Jr. of Raleigh.
