Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies converged on a Wayne County home Tuesday afternoon -- and their meticulous planning of the raid paid off to the tune of roughly $250,000 worth of cocaine.
Members of the Wayne County Drug Task Force and Sheriff's Office, the Greenville County Drug Task Force, DEA and SBI, poised and well-briefed with medical personnel standing by, seized two-and-a-half kilograms of cocaine and a bundle of cash as they arrested an unspecified number of suspected drug traffickers in the vicinity of 420 Ivy Lane.
And according to Sheriff's Capt. Richard Lewis, the men who were detained either had no identification on them or presented names that authorities had no way of verifying.
Due to their concern for the integrity of the investigation -- and the safety of those involved -- lawmen said no additional information would be released at this time.
They would only say that the investigation would continue and that more arrests could be made.
And Lewis indicated that charges related to drug trafficking by transportation will be filed against those in custody.
