Stolen vehicle
A 2011 Honda Accord was reported stolen Monday. Martin Etheridge Phelps of Dudley, told the Wayne County Sheriff's Office that he believed his mother's vehicle was stolen by a known suspect. Although Phelps indicated that this was not the first time this type of thing has happened, insufficient cause was found to issue a warrant for arrest.
Copper theft
A fence with a lock served as but a minor inconvenience to one determined copper thief. An unknown suspect cut the lock and then severed all connections from the building at 413 E. Ash Street to the HVAC unit out back. Jason Patrick Eason, Windfield Drive, discovered and reported the theft to police Tuesday after 8 a.m., but said that the theft could have occurred any time between then and Friday, Aug. 10. The stolen unit was valued at $5,000.
