The STOP the Funeral Initiative will sponsor its first career fair on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Greenleaf Vision of Faith Community Center at 2105 North William St.

The goal is to match companies that are hiring with people that are looking for employment. At least nine businesses will have representatives on hand.

"We can't effectively address violence in our community without recognizing and addressing one of its root causes. Preparing for work, knowing how to dress for an interview, writing a resume, developing interview skills are all critical to help level the playing field," the Rev. Dr. William Barber II, president of state NAACP and co-convener of Stop the Funeral Initiative, said in a press release.

The STOP the Funeral Initiative is a collaborative effort of Rebuilding Broken Places Community Development Corporation, the Goldsboro/Wayne Branch NAACP, and covenant partners from the faith community united to be a catalyst for stopping drug and gang violence in Wayne County.
