With a write-in campaign making the other unopposed race interesting, Bill Broadaway's race for the District 2 race emerged Tuesday as the only truly uncontested race, with the political newcomer receiving 373 votes of 392 ballots cast in his district.

Broadaway said now that it's assumed he will serve as District 2's representative to the City Council, he will begin preparing for the role in earnest.

"The next step is I start studying and listening, and that's kind of where I am," Broadaway said, noting that he has a copy of the city's budget and is reading through it.

He said he would take a wait-and-see approach on the issues, including the Center Street Streetscape project, although he said a number of people had already tried to make suggestions to him about how to serve.

"I want to wait and see what Streetscape looks like," he said, continuing to insist that he has no agenda and will simply evaluate each issue fully and objectively.

"I'm looking forward to working with everybody."
