Obtaining property by false pretenses
The State Employees Credit Union, 1804 N. Berkeley Blvd., found out Thursday it had been duped for the amount of $275. An unknown subject passed through the credit unions drive through Monday and submitted to the teller a check to be cashed. The check, written on a fraudulent account, was cashed without incident. Thursday the check came back declaring insufficient funds.
Robbery
A robbery and assault occurred Thursday afternoon in the area of the Family Dollar at 1403 Wayne Memorial Drive. The victim told Goldsboro police that she was sitting on the ground when the unknown suspects approached her asking for change. As the victim stood she was pushed to the ground and her purse snatched. The value of the stolen property was estimated to be $95.00.
Break-in and theft
Dixie Chemical Co., 900 N. James St., was broken into Wednesday night. Unknown subjects entered through a broken window and removed property including an air conditioning unit. The damage and stolen property combined were valued more than $1,100.
Identity theft
A Country View Road resident discovered Thursday that he has fallen victim to identity theft. The IRS notified the man that his Social Security number has been used in various states and at multiple places of employment to obtain jobs for which no taxes have been paid. The IRS is now trying to take his tax refund for unpaid taxes he insists he does not owe. The victim told police he has never worked at any of the locations listed by the IRS.
