The Goldsboro Optimist Club will hold another Computers4Kids Collection Day Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Sam's Club parking lot to collect used computers and equipment in working or repairable condition.

The Optimist Computers4Kids program provides low-cost, refurbished computer for low-income families with children in grades six through 12 enrolled in a Wayne County Public School.

Also, low-income families with children in the fifth grade are also eligible for the program.

Free popcorn will be given away Saturday, and raffle tickets for a new HP laptop computer will be available for sale at $5 each or five tickets for $20. The drawing for the laptop computer will be held at the Goldsboro Optimist Club's Aug. 7 meeting. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win.

The following items are needed:

*Laptop, desktop, or tower computers with a 1.4 GHz CPU or faster processor and Windows XP or later operating system (preferably not more than five years old)

*CRT monitors 17 inches or larger

*LCD monitors 15 inches or larger

*Keyboards

*Mice

*Speakers

*Power cords and cables.

Used or broken printers will not be accepted because of the high cost of repairing or refurbishing them.

Personal data will be removed from the hard drive using special software that meets the Department of Defense specifications for cleaning data from hard drives.

Donated computers also may be dropped off Monday through Friday at Prudential The McMillen Real Estate Group, 1004 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro Builders Supply, 701 Patetown Road, and Mount Olive Builders Supply, 343 W. N.C. 55, Mount Olive.
