Identity theft

A former roommate allegedly used a Kinston woman's personal information to obtain electric services. Frenchshall Dunk attempted to have power turned on at her new residence Monday only to be told she already had an account at an address where she has never resided. Goldsboro police are investigating.

Stolen van door

George Foss Auto Sales Inc., 4310 U.S. 70 E., reported a theft Monday. An unknown person removed the right rear door from a Chevy 2500 van and replaced it with a door that did not belong. According to a Goldsboro police report, the door and four of the eight bolts removed are valued at $2,502.50. The remaining four bolts were used to attach the replacement van door.

Larceny, damage to property

With no regard for the heat or for the resident's subsequent comfort, thieves removed copper tubing from an air conditioning unit at a Wayne Memorial Drive home Monday. As it turned out the property is an unoccupied rental and the theft was reported for the purposes of a $500 insurance claim.

Breaking and entering, larceny

A Chestnut Street residence was broken into and robbed Tuesday between 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. Unknown suspects kicked in the side entrance and ransacked the home, stealing a game console, a laptop and the homeowner's wireless router. The total value of the items taken exceeded $1,300.

Armed robbery

A 32-year-old Goldsboro man was held up at gunpoint Tuesday after 9 p.m. near Vanderbilt Circle. The unknown gunman, described to police only as a light-skinned man, accosted the victim in the parking lot and fled with his wallet, cash and car keys.

Tax fraud

A Longleaf Avenue woman reported to Wayne County Sheriff's Office $3,130 in tax fraud. Sure Tax Returns, 165 Old Grantham Road, allegedly filed taxes for the victim and promised a refund by April 9 for the amount listed above. The victim said she has received neither a refund check nor a returned phone call from the business. The sheriff's office is investigating.
