Rosewood High School graduate Travis Alan Cuddington has been presented a $5,000 two-year community college scholarship made possible by the State Employees Credit Union Foundation in partnership with the North Carolina National Guard Association Educational Foundation.

The scholarship was awarded for study at Wayne Community College.

Travis is the son of Alan Cuddington, who retired in 1977 as a specialist with the 691st Maintenance Co. in Fremont.

"SECU Foundation is honored to assist a North Carolina National Guardsman's family with their educational goals," said Jim Barber, SECU Foundation chairman.

The goal of the SECU Foundation scholarship program is to help North Carolina students further their education by easing the financial challenge of college expenses, he said.

Partnering with the North Carolina National Guard Association Educational Foundation to support this scholarship is a great compliment to the SECU Foundation's existing "People Helping People" scholarship program and an opportunity for SECU members to give back to North Carolina families," Barber said.

Funded solely by SECU members and reaching all counties of North Carolina, the SECU Foundation Scholarship program is committed to education and the citizens of North Carolina.

To date, SECU members, through the SECU Foundation, have provided $28 million in scholarships for North Carolina high school seniors through the program.
