Twelve host families are needed in the Goldsboro area for 12 high school students from France and Spain and two teachers, who will be in the area June 16-July 7 and June 26- July 24.
Hosts will expose the students to their daily life and activities. The exchange students have a proficiency level in English of at least three years and want to experience first hand the life of an American family.
The students are fully insured and bring their own spending money.
Families need not to have children in order to qualify. Each visiting student or foreign language teacher will be individually matched with a family. The same opportunity is available to American students and teachers abroad.
"This home stay immersion presents a unique opportunity for high school students to learn about a foreign culture outside of the classroom, inside the culture and language they are learning in school. It is a great extension to the foreign language classroom," said East Carolina University professor Frederic Fladenmuller, who helps direct the program.
