For the fourth time in a week, the Goldsboro Police Department has been called on to investigate a shooting.
Carlos Atkinson, 51, told investigators he was shot near Mina Weil Park early Thursday morning -- struck in the arm while he was in a vehicle on the 600 block of Wayne Avenue.
Four bullet holes were found on the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero he was traveling in.
Atkinson told police he came to a stop at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Devereaux Street, heard gun shots and realized he had been injured.
He then fled to a friend's home and was later transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
Thursday's shooting marks the third reported shooting in the city since 21-year-old Khyrie Roberts was shot to death outside the Madison Market Grill and Grocery May 3.
Sunday, a 15-year-old was riding in a car on Olivia Lane at just after 4 p.m. when someone in a vehicle parked at its intersection with Carver Drive opened fire.
And the following day, Jaquan Amahd Dennis, 19, was shot in the foot while standing in the EZ Choice Tinting parking lot at 300 W. Grantham St.
All four incidents remain under investigation, officials said.
Those with information are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
