916th Air Refueling Wing Commander Col. Laen August thanks Girl Scouts and their family members Friday at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base for making the Reserve Unit the first in the state to receive confections from Operation Cookie Drop.

Members of the 916th Air Refueling Wing were on the receiving end of the first Operation Cookie Drop donation made by North Carolina Girl Scouts Friday afternoon. And in return, the storied unit gave the girls a thrill -- a meet and greet with female aviators and a tour of a KC-135R Stratotanker.

The Scouts chose Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as the first state military installation to receive the confections -- some 13,000 of them -- because they heard local Reserve airmen were about to deploy overseas. And 916th Commander Col. Laen August said the treats will do wonders for the morale of those men and women set to take flight.
