Woman assaulted in parking lot

Goldsboro police are investigating an attempted armed robbery and assault that occurred about 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Hardee's parking lot at 220 E. Ash St.

The report was filed by Allison Boone, who told police she pulled in the parking lot to look at her GPS device, which had fallen.

While stopped, a young man entered her vehicle through the passenger-side door and attempted to grab her purse, she told police.

As Ms. Boone held onto the purse, she was struck in the left side of her face with a handgun by a second man, according to the report.

The man continued to strike her in the face from the driver's-side window, she reported.

She was then threatened that she would be shot if she did not hand over all of her money.

Ms. Boone was able to drive away before any of her property was stolen.

Wayne County EMS responded to the scene, but Ms. Boone was not taken to the hospital for treatment of a small cut on the left side of her eye, bruising to her left cheek or a scrape on her neck that she received during the incident.
