Several newcomers have filed for elected office in Wayne County, adding to the list of candidates seeking election to either state or local office.
Kevin Hayes of Mount Olive, a Libertarian, has filed for the District 4 seat in the state House of Representatives. State Rep. Efton Sager, a Republican who now holds the District 11 seat, has also filed for the seat, which was created by redistricting. The 4th District includes parts of rural Wayne County and reaches deep into eastern Duplin County.
Starr Whitmore of Goldsboro has filed for the District 4 seat on the Goldsboro City Council, opposing the Rev. Charles Williams, who is seeking another term. The race is non-partisan.
Hosea Manley filed for re-election to the District 2 seat on the Mount Olive Town Board.
And Sandra McCullen filed for re-election to the at-large seat on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.
