Candidates file to seek local offices

More candidates for public office officially filed with the Wayne County Board of Elections on Tuesday.

The filing period began on Monday and ends Wednesday, Feb. 29, at noon.

On Tuesday, Democratic incumbent state Rep. Larry Bell filed for re-election to the District 21 seat in the state House. The district includes portions of Wayne, Duplin and Sampson counties.

Lois Mooring filed for re-election as Wayne County Register of Deeds.

Steve Keen filed for re-election to the District 4 seat on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.

District Court judges David Brantley, Lonnie Carraway, Tim Finan and Charles Gaylor all filed for re-election to the 8th Judicial District bench, which includes Wayne, Lenoir and Greene counties.

In Mount Olive, Joe Scott filed for the at-large seat on the Mount Olive Town Board and Edward Earl Cromartie Sr. filed for the District 1 seat.

Municipal races are non-partisan.
