A 75-year-old Princeton woman died in her home after a fire Monday.

Iris Toleito was pronounced dead at the scene after Princeton officials arrived at her apartment at 410 W. Third St.

The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, but officials ruled out electrical and foul play as the culprit of the blaze, according to Princeton police Chief Tyronne Sutton.

Police were dispatched to the home at 6:30 p.m.

After arriving, several people were shouting "save her." A neighbor at the scene called a family member. The front glass window was broken to make efforts to enter the residence.

The Princeton Fire Department and emergency responders arrived and entry was made through a door.

Mrs. Toleito's body was found on her bed near the front of the apartment. Her remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The fire marshal arrived on the scene and conducted a full investigation.
