Two men wearing ski masks robbed a Family Dollar store early Thursday.
The men, who also wore hooded sweatshirts, entered the store at 102 Five Points Road in the Mar-Mac community at about 8:30 a.m. and demanded money.
They claimed to have firearms hidden underneath their clothing.
The only person in the store at the time of the theft was a clerk, Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputies said.
The suspects got the clerk to empty the store's cash register and safe and then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, investigators said today.
Deputies attempted to locate the suspects by deploying a K-9 unit. But they said it appeared that the men ran to a vehicle and drove off.
Officers had no further descriptions of the suspects, but said the investigation is continuing.
