The Wayne Charitable Partnership and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce recently announced the availability of mini-grants for instructional projects for the 2011-12 school year. The grants are an attempt to encourage teachers, media coordinators, and guidance counselors to originate and implement innovative projects by making funds available to them.

All applications will be reviewed by a panel of the Wayne Education Network. Each proposal will be evaluated for its innovative and educational nature, realistic goals, benefit to students, clarity and reasonable budget.

Grants of up to $500 will be awarded on a competitive basis. Successful applicants will receive funds for materials, equipment, and other items necessary to carry out the proposed project. All public and private schools, teachers, media coordinators, guidance counselors and teachers of home schooled children serving grades K-12 are eligible to apply.

Applications are available at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce office or website, www.waynecountycham ber.com, or the Wayne Education Network website, www.wayneeducationnet work.org. Applications are due Thursday.
