County offices closed all week

Most Wayne County government offices are closed until Jan. 2 in observance of the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.
The offices are: Animal Control, Board of Elections, Day Reporting Center, Development Alliance, Environmental Health Department, Facilities Services, Finance Department, Register of Deeds, Social Services, GIS/Planning, Health Department, Human Resources, Information Technology, Inspection Department, Office of Emergency Services, Veterans Services and Soil and Water Conservation.
The landfill resumed normal operating hours this morning.
The Tax Department also will be closed Dec. 26 through 29, but will open on Dec. 30 and will be closed Jan. 2.
Jan. 5 is the deadline for county property owns to pay their taxes in order to avoid a 2 percent penalty that will be added on Jan. 6. An additional three-fourths of a percent is added on any unpaid balance at the first of each following month.
The Register of Deeds office will also be open on Dec. 30.
The Cooperative Extension office and Wayne County Public Library reopen Wednesday.
Goldsboro residents are reminded that all sanitation services scheduled for today will be serviced on Wednesday.
